Jill commenced at the private bar in May 2019. She previously practised as a barrister for two years when working as Counsel Assisting the NSW Solicitor General and Crown Advocate, during which time she appeared in the High Court of Australia, the NSW Court of Appeal, the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal and the NSW Supreme Court. Jill has also appeared in the NSW District Court, the NSW Land and Environment Court and other courts and tribunals.
Jill accepts briefs in all areas of practice. She has particular experience providing advice and representation in criminal law, administrative law, constitutional law and regulatory matters.
Jill’s previous experience includes working as Special Counsel of the Criminal Law and Inquiries Practice Group at the Crown Solicitor’s Office of NSW; A/Assistant Crown Solicitor and a Senior Solicitor in the Criminal Law and Constitutional and Native Title Law Teams at the Crown Solicitor’s Office; a Principal Legal Officer at the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing; a Legal Adviser to the NSW Director and Deputy Directors of Public Prosecutions; a Solicitor in the Administrative Law Team at the Crown Solicitor’s Office; and a Solicitor in the Commercial Group, the Litigation Group and the ACCC Unit at the Australian Government Solicitor. She was also an Associate to the Honourable Justice Murray Wilcox AO QC of the Federal Court of Australia.
