James was admitted as a solicitor in 2011 and called to the Bar in 2019. He accepts briefs in most areas of law, with a focus on commercial law, regulatory proceedings, property law, building and construction disputes, and insurance.
James appears in superior and inferior courts both led and unled (see CV for recent cases).
As counsel, James has acted for clients in various industries, including banking and finance, construction, insurance, and retail. He also provides cost-effective service to individuals and small businesses.
James was previously a Senior Associate in the Disputes group at Herbert Smith Freehills, where he was involved primarily in commercial and regulatory matters. He also has experience in employment law, defamation, intellectual property, class actions and royal commissions. As a solicitor, James worked on numerous large-scale and high-profile matters, including for clients such as National Australia Bank, Tabcorp, Apple, and Babcock & Brown.
James holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Social Science (With Distinction) from the University of Western Sydney. He received numerous academic prizes and scholarships, including the University Medal.
